Saints Sebastian, Roch, and Lawrence

The handle of St. Lawrence's gridiron is just barely visible in the lower left corner. St. Sebastian is tied to a column, which substitutes for the customary tree in some classicizing portraits. As usual, he is stripped and pierced by arrows. St. Roch is also presented as usual, with a pilgrim's staff, hat, and clothing and pointing to the lesion in his thigh that signifies the bubonic plague. Roch and Sebastian were considered especially helpful intercessors in time of plague.
